A 52-year old Tejano singer from Tucson has pleaded guilty to a money laundering charge. Adalberto Gallegos, Jr., a member of the musical group Latin Breed, was charged with one count of conspiring to conduct financial transactions involving the proceeds of distributing marijuana.
According to the indictment, Gallegos, Jr. established a bank account in Florida in 2004 which he used to receive more than $270,000 in drug proceeds. Federal investigators say the money was deposited in Florida and Gallegos, Jr. later withdrew the funds in Tucson.

Gallegos, Jr. will be sentenced on August 6 by U.S. District Court Judge Cindy Jorgenson. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a $500,000 fine, or both.
