Marriage, to me, basically says that you're contractually and lawfully obliged to stay with someone. That to me doesn't represent love in its best interest.
Could one not argue that those who have been together a long time without marriage have a better relationship than those who signed some papers saying they have to be with each other?
All marriage does is provide a false sense of security of having someone with you for the rest of your life. (Even though they really can leave whenever they want.)
Times have changed from the time where marriages were truly long lasting. The sad truth is the only reason i have seen people stay together was because either divorce was a taboo subject, or there was a financial necessity to stay together.
Those whom have stayed together and truly can say that they are happy together, i believe could have stayed together without the concept of marriage to begin with.
Ive been with my hubby for 12 yrs. we met when i was 16 and he was 22
But, its been so long, and when I was younger getting married was a big thing for me, and then all our friends started getting married, and then cheated on eachother, or just had problems, and then divorced, or seperated, it started scaring me, haha, why should i break it if its not broken...well broken all the way...its got a few cracks in it and a chip or two. :LMAO:
