I'm married. I was 22 when I got married, he was 27. We've been married 9 1/2 yrs, going on 10 yrs. in a couple of months. Long time huh!? We met when I was 18 and he was 22 at the time.

I'm 25 and single! I agree with Pete...it's not all what it's cracked up to be. Ya quisiera estar con alguien bien...compartir todo con esa persona and never have to want anything else anymore! :yup: I'm a hopeless romantic..... what can i say...LOL. It's hard being by yourself.....I have my friends and family of course...and love being around them pero me falta algo....I hate going to family things alone.....going out with my friends ....alone.....it's not fun!!

I think the concept of marriage is stupid. I know people that have been together for years (9+), and never once have thought of getting married.

Marriage, to me, basically says that you're contractually and lawfully obliged to stay with someone. That to me doesn't represent love in its best interest.

Could one not argue that those who have been together a long time without marriage have a better relationship than those who signed some papers saying they have to be with each other?

All marriage does is provide a false sense of security of having someone with you for the rest of your life. (Even though they really can leave whenever they want.)

Times have changed from the time where marriages were truly long lasting. The sad truth is the only reason i have seen people stay together was because either divorce was a taboo subject, or there was a financial necessity to stay together.

Those whom have stayed together and truly can say that they are happy together, i believe could have stayed together without the concept of marriage to begin with.

I think marriage just ads pressure to a relationship. Plus if things don't work out, then divorce is a bitch....especially if you have children.

I also think that people can be a in a long relationship without ever getting married.

I have to agree with you marriage is not the same as before. I have been with my b/f for almost 11 years this May, and we never got married. I've been with him since I was 13 because I became pregnant. We have been living together ever since. We didnt get married then because we were underage but now that we can it doesn't seem that important anymore, its just a piece of paper, and well i'm a little superstitious too, I've seen a lot of people that have been together for a long time and then decide to get married and break up within months lol.
My relationship with my b/f is very strong, we've been together for so long and we practically grew up together, I don't thnk that we will ever be able to be apart.

Im not technically married. i should be, but Im not. We've just been together for ever and ever. Ive been with my hubby for 12 yrs. we met when i was 16 and he was 22 But, its been so long, and when I was younger getting married was a big thing for me, and then all our friends started getting married, and then cheated on eachother, or just had problems, and then divorced, or seperated, it started scaring me, haha, why should i break it if its not broken...well broken all the way...its got a few cracks in it and a chip or two. :LMAO:
