I want to respectfully share, and extend an invite to all ppls here at Juarol...and BEYOND.
Indians In Sobriety is an organization that was born after a national nightly news program called 20/20 aired an document focusing on the little town of Gallup, New Mexico the title of the document was/is "DrunkTown U.S.A.",..this document mainly focused on the local tribal ppls of the the Southwest...Mexicatls included.
The story showed how the little town was riddled with alcoholics and it put the camera on the indigenous faces of ppls of the surrounding tribes. This commentary t.v. news article sparked a huge response from the SOBER indigenous and non-indigenous folk-thus calling for a gathering for prayer and for insight thru VISION.[To prove to the world that not "all indians" are DRUNKS]
Indians In Sobriety was thus gifted. Indians In Sobriety is an Eagle Feather Staff-the iconic representation of the most respected and prayed for winged one...according to indigenous ppls the Eagle and it's beautiful feathers represent power, and hope, and strength and it also represents an indigenous prayerful way of life. The staff is bid for at the tribal level.,meaning that the different tribal members in sobriety will bid for the staff to represent their particular tribe. The staff has travelled and represented many Native North American Tribes..here in the U.S.A.
It was my dream and my vision as a Mexica to humbly bid for the staff for the Navajo Community that has become my home since my marriage to a Dineh man in 1997. It is my honor and my pride to share with you that the staff was handed to us for this years event through WINNING of the challenge to have the staff at our family homestead in the Navajo tribal community called LUKACHUKAI...here in Az.
The most awesome thing about this whole ordeal is that I as a Mexica a Mexicana/Chicana...wills to represent my people even if it's in the most humble of ways...out here in the middle of somewheres.
The event is FREE there are still campsites available and we only ask that all those wanting to attend have a desire to STOP drinking. Alcoholism is the desease that has RAVISHED thru countless barrios and tribal communities leaving us with yet more histerias and historical travesty.

I am very very BUSY during the week and usually the best time to catch me is at 10ishpm. to 10:30ish pm.MOUNTAIN TIME...do not worry if it's later than that time(i will answer)-my life is dedicated to serve the greater good on behalf of all humans willing to live well...and RECREATE well living.
