Hair:Highlights and such

Postby Normies on Mon, Jan 30 2006, 8:01 PM

Just wondering if anyone in here (ahem ladies) knows whats in for this season to come. I really enjoyed having highlights in the past, but, not sure if they are 'in' anymore?! Are highlights still in, or have they all gone to natural shades?! Just curious. I need a new hair du'! .bump.

To be honest now that this subject is brought up, I haven't seen too many girls with highlights. I personally don't have highlights, I haven't used them in years. Ever since I dyed my hair black, I haven't been able to go back to normal hair color or a lighter hair color Image

Here in the Denver and New Mexico areas, a lot of women I've seen have them. I actually have them too. So in this area they are still "in". I actually love having hilights. :D

The only thing I think looks bad is when women get them too chunky or too drastic of a change from their current hair color. (Looks like a skunk that way)

I try to have them in the summer months but in the winter months I'll do my best to dye my hair darker. (I'm due for another dye job too!!) I just go off of what you can pull off. If your light skinned you can get away with lighter colors easier. Or if you go darker I wouldn't go darker than your natural hair color.
But all the above applies to me I guess ???? I would just do what looks good and makes you happy but decisions decisions!!!

everyone still does it around here...for awhile there was this craze on the three tone hi-lites..a lot of girls are still doing it..there is red, blonde, and you can add copper also all together and if its done right it looks really nice. ..i did that before..and when i got tired of it i dyed my hair black...and so now its like silly says, its hard to go back to any other color..but i am thinking about getting red highlights done. so yes they are still in!!! do it!!!

cool guys, I appracite all of your input. I think im gonna have them done here soon in couple of weeks. Ill ask for a warm carmel color or light brown, nothing too dramatic or skunkish. :jumm:

lol@ GG. I have dark brown/black hair. I know what you mean about having lighter or browner hair, it blends better than dark :hmp: I guess ill have to discuss that with the salon lady.

To me, highlights and blondish streaks look really good in the summer time.

I personally, liked having my hair with dirty blonde highlights and light ash brown lowlights together for the summer.

I would like to get something done to my hair, but I heard its not good to do during pregnancy. :jumm: hmm, who knows....

Yes, I have heard that too...my nana used to tell me that! LOL, you should talk to your OBGYN about it, I bet she/he would tell you otherwise. I don't think I have every had highlights, but in the summer it would not look to shabby...Hmm, Imma look into it!

i think its not safe if you constantly do it...i think both times i was preggos with my older kids, i felt so BLEH that i had to do something to my hair, and i was about three or four months with my son when i got highlights, my dr said it wasnt a big deal as long as i wasnt breathing in all the fumes directly...so i dunno...just ask your dr...

if I get highlights I get them done during spring or summer and just keep my hair dark during winter and fall. I can't remember what they put, I'll ask, but I get something added so it doesn't look too "brassy". Of course it is up to you if you get them done by cap or by foil. I think by foil they come out better...me personally.
