If you have watched the news this morning, then I guess you have seen this article. This woman, Benazir Bhutto, recently returned to Pakistan, after having been in exile for several years. Bhutto was the former Prime Minister, and was running for the position again. After following the campaign trail for months now, it seems that many supported her and her ideas and she seems to have been favored to win, campaigning hard despite several attempts on her life already. Now the question is whether her son will follow in her footsteps.

How sad Caker, that we live in a world with so little regard for human life. It is a disgrace that things like this happen, anywhere in the world. From Sudan and Rwanda, to the little children getting run down in the streets by careless drivers here in the U.S.A. Benazir Bhutto was a Great Lady, and very much pro U.S. That is probably the reason why they killed her. A lot of countries in the world criticize the United States, but they need to take a closer look at themselves, and just how barbaric and wicked they are. And in the name of God, they want us to be just like them? You have to be kidding!

That's really too bad because she was ahead of everyone and was doing really well. I remember seeing on the news that she barley survived an suicide attack about a couple months ago or so... I haven't heard anything else of her until today. She had a lot of support... It could of been preventable. Lot's of 'buzz' about... You wouldn't think it, but it definitely has impact on US politics... It changes things that's for sure.



Musharraf failed to protect me: Bhutto in e-mail

If harmed in Pakistan, "I would hold Musharraf responsible," Bhutto wrote in the October email, revealed on air by CNN journalist Wolf Blitzer, who received it from Bhutto's friend and US spokesman Mark Siegel.

"I have been made to feel insecure by his minions," Bhutto wrote of Musharraf, detailing security measures which she said were not granted her after her return to the volatile country.

"There is no way what is happening in terms of stopping me from taking private cars or using tinted windows or giving jammers or four police mobiles to cover all sides could happen without him."

I do not think that Benazir Bhutto was killed just because she was pro-USA.

I think she was killed because she posed a threat to the people currently in power. I also think the fact that she was a woman had a little something to do with it.

Bhutto was not squeaky clean, as she was put out of power after allegations of corruption (against her husband), but she did have the best shot of getting Pakistan a step towards modern times.

Almost no one involved in politics is squeaky clean Daenerys, but at least she was not an extremist. We already have two possible powder kegs Iran, and North Korea, that are led by extremists. Either of these two are capable of igniting world war three, we do not need another one in Pakistan.LoL!

Last I read, the Pakistan governing body has evidence the assasination is linked to al quaida. Afghanistan is a neighbouring country and they havent been seeing eye to eye anyway.

Boy. We live in a f***ed up world. Everywhere is a power keg waiting to go off... Including Belgium! (There are separatist movements in Belgium, a small tiny country... they cant even form a government at the moment... And it used to be such a cute and sweet country!)

Yes, yes, she was pro-USA and very hated for it. She was open about wanting to help in the fight on terrorism and terrorists. Her platform debate was centered on social and welfare issues, and the advancement of education and women in general. So yes, she was very hated, especially since the people of Pakistan were voicing their concerns and no one seemed to be listening except for her. She seemed to be their ray of hope and in my opinion Musharraf knew his days as prime minister were number with the approaching election-just a mere 2 weeks away. Sure she posed a threat to those currently in power, they have things running to suite themselves, and with things looking like she might win it worried many people. I think like f.solis, anyone in politics is sure not to have a squeaky clean background, but she sure was not an extremist. Daenerys, the charges of corruption against her were dropped, although she was held for some time. But you have to think a person who just in the bank had approx. $13 mil. US dollars would not risk their life if they were so corrupt as many presume, and if she were so corrupt as some have argued then why were the allegations withdrawn and why were charges dropped when she was exiled?? She never had to work another day in her life with that kind of money, especially with and education that included such schools as Oxford and Harvard. What could have been, we will never know. The people must decide what they will put up with now. Some have asked for Scotland Yard and the CIA to be allowed to investigate, but apparently Musharraf won't let them, why if it is what the people are asking for?

All the reports I am reading about the assasination seem to point to this becoming one of the big mysteries.. Was she hit by shards of the sunroof? Was she killed by bullets before the suicide bomber exploded himself? The official hospital statement, backed up by the government claims she was killed by the shards, reports of her bodyguard and someone close to her say that she was shot at least once in the neck...

Then Pakistan says that Al Quaida has is behind it and that they have proof, next the leading guy in Pakistan of AQ says they had nothing to do with it and that it is Musharraf trying to cover up the truth.

It is still very sad, but it becomes even sadder if the circumstances remain so muddy and clouded.

Would it help if the CIA or scotland yard took the investigation on? Wouldnt that fuel the anti-western feelings there even more? Pakistan needs the help of its neighbours and to deal with this themselves in a mature way. Anyway, in a perfect world that would be the best option.

Yeah, I was watching this. She was in hiding for years and even Osama Bin Laden was after her for a minute. She new it was a huge risk putting herself out there like that, but she did what she had to do to get her votes. Her father was killed for trying to take a step towards democracy and she said in an interview I saw, that she was willing to do the same thing no matter what it cost her. They need to not allow cars with sun roofs anymore. lol. They banned those from the USA right after Kennedy's assassination. But, she was one of the many that stayed strong and risked her life for her beliefs and the benefits of other people.
