Kind of like when you rent an apartment or a house, you rent for 10, 15, 20 years and help the owner pay for his house, and then anytime he wants to get rid of you he can, because its his house. When if one had spent that money on buying a house in the first place, you pay it off and its yours, no one can kick you out of it ever, unless you don't pay your taxes, or the property gets taken away through eminent domain proceedings. Besides when you work for someone else you always get told what to do.They also control how much money you make, and in the end, when they don't need you, or want you working there anymore, they just fire your a..,not caring at all if you don't have a place to stay, bills to pay, or something to eat! been there, & done that. So for me it will definitely be my own business someday!LOL!
I agree with everything that you have to say Fsolis... If you are thinking about working from home the only way to do it is opening your own business. All those work from home infomercials are scams. You need to come up with your own ideas and work thru them, also you have to understand that you will probably have to invest some money in your business as well like marketing, etc. When I first had my son I did a lot of research into working from home, mostly because I wanted to raise my son and not have to take him to daycare, so I found a lot of ways that I could make money from home, for example having a licensed Day Care, Sewing and designing clothes, beautician, or sales, even a cleaning person, I have this girl that comes to my house and cleans my kitchen and bathrooms and I pay her $60 for 2 hours, that is $30 an hour that is way more that anybody will ever get paid for a 9 to 5 job, not to mention that she is her own boss and she can do whatever she wants.
I was fortunate enough to find a reputable company to work from home, I did interpreting from my house and I earned good money and I could work anytime, except that it kind of got stressful for me. Then I was even more fortunate to find a good career that would give me the flexibility to work from home or take some time off to take care of my children, I went into Insurance Sales and so far it has been great, except I have had to invest some money into marketing, but its all worth it because its my business and the rewards will be for me.
Like Fsolis said, we chicanos need to stop making other people rich and we need to start making ourselves rich! The way to do it is to opening a business!
