If an 80 percent reduction in violent crimes such as Rape , murder, armed robbery and racial hate crimes could be reached by compiling a DNA database of newborn babies, would you consent to your childrens unique genetic code being included?

Now, now Old Sancho, that would be a violation of our constituional rights and our right to privacy! Lmbo.
If i am reading correclty, personaly, no, I wouldnt want anyone collecting my child's blood. Neither by consent or by contract. Its a great idea, but as humans we make so much mistakes and errors i would hate to see what would happen if someone made a common administrative mistake. I just wouldnt trust it and its not nessesary.
To eliminate murder and hate crimes we need to put more money in social programs and try to eliminate Poverty in this country. That my opinion on that.

Well felons and sex offenders have consitutional rights and are entitled to privacy as well. But when they are incarcerated, in certain instances their finger prints and DNA are put into a database so they can be identified easily should they re-offend upon release.

With all the advances in forensic investigative techniques, it is almost impossible to commit the "perfect crime." Why then would it not be a good idea to be able to stop a murderer before he becomes a "mass" murderer, a rapist before he becomes a "serial" rapist or a kidnapper before he becomes the next "Jeffery Dalhmer." most of these types of offenders commit mutiple offences before they are even suspected. If a child grows up knowing that every time a bad person does something evil he gets caught and punished, he might have just that little pause that keeps him from becoming a number in a penal colony, when urges or bad influences might sway him?

I know it sounds "Big Brotherish" and all, but it is after all just a theoretical question. Red light cameras reduced deaths from traffic accidents, metal detectors make schools and Government builings safer buy keeping firearms out and abducted children have a much better chance of being found safe due to megans Law. Al these things didn't exist 20 years ago.

So the question, I guess, is how far would you go to ensure that your child is not raped, murdered or has holes drilled into his brain to make him a zombie like sex slave?

Yes, it is very much "Big Brotherish" and who is to say it will not be used any other way-you know how that goes, they always say "It is totally safe" "We've taken all the necessary precautions " and when the crap goes down they all run for the woods and just stand there "Uh?!" [] and "We're going to make sure justice is served" and they get some form of menial punishment-a slap on the hand. No-after that what's next? What else will we have to surrender? [Hmmm] If you want to reduce crime-study why it is there to begin with-not enough food? Lack of jobs? Low pay? From there-work on it, do something about it.
I am interested in what others think though-good question. [Peace!]

^ thats what i am saying.

But the issue here goes beyond being a rapist of a mass murder. It comes to the basic fundementals of rasing children. What caused these people to act in harmfull crimes? I say psycholigcal and mental instability or a really fucked up childhood. What can we do to prevent psychological disorders? Lower the poverty rate, increase social programs like the boys and girls club. Maybe distribution of free birth control so crazy people wont have children. How about drugs? They make people do crazy things. But, God forbid we take away drugs away from this country (or the world for that matter) after all it is a trillion dollar industry.
Their are many factors that contribute to hatefulll behaviour, but sampling on DNA is not a good idea. Mistakes can be made, and myself or my future children dont need their blood hanging out there in the open. Hell, i didnt commit a crime. I dont need someone hacking in and stealing my DNA. Nothing is secure.
