TEARS OF A LADY! (THE NEW BERLIN WALL)

Postby fsolis on Mon, Jan 21 2008, 12:18 PM

When the Berlin wall came down, people applauded.
Now many of the those same people, want to build
a new Berlin wall. "Keep out the illegal immigrants,
is the cry."

I looked up at the great lady, known throughout
the world, as a symbol of the freedom of our land.
Besides a flag with stars and stripes unfurled,
I then thought, I saw a tear fall from her eye.

I asked her in her sadness, why is it that you cry?
"Because hate is rising up against my children,
she replied. This great country was built upon their
blood.

They came from near and far, to toil, in the cities,
factories, ranches and farms. Only now to come
face to face, with unbridled senseless hate.

They want to build a wall, like Berlin, strong and tall.
Even though the blood of countless immigrants has
been shed to defend us in our wars.

How is it now, that the nations people have forgotten.
That not so long ago, their very ancestors, came to
America one and all. Now they wish to separate the
mothers from their children, and make even more
broken homes, then go and sit in their churches,
and pray to a God of love.

But don't they know, that God closes up his ears to hate,
because it is not from above? For he knows the hearts of
men and women, since before the womb. This is why,
I shed a tear, it is for the immigrant children, which
I will always, hold so dear!"

THE INSCRIPTION ON THE STATUE OF LIBERTY!

THE "NEW COLOSSUS"
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!â€
