you call me:
"redneck"
"Hillbilly"
"Slaker"
"Cracker"
"Honkey"
"Whitey"
"Gringo"
"Sage"
and you think it's OK.

But when I call you:
jungle bunny
spear chunker
coon
wet back
jiggaboo
porch monkey
sand nigger
rag head
towelhead
Camel Jockey
Gook
Spook
NIGGER
KIKE
slant eyes
or Chink
you call me a racist.

--You have the United Negro College Fund.-You have the Caucasion College Fund
--You have Black History Month, Cesar Chavez Day,Yom Hashoah, Ma'uled Al-Nabi, .-You have Presidents Day, Washington and Lincolns birthday, 4th of July.
--You have the NAACP. You have the United States judicial system.
--You have BET.-You have control over all of television.

--If we had WET(white entertainment television) ...we'd be racist.-Since the inception of television, its catered to whites.
--If we had a White Pride Day... you would call us racist.-What do you think 4th of July is?
--If we had white history month... we'd be racist.-Whites introduced the Gregorian calendar because in the minds of the leaders 500 years ago, the Julian calendar was less precise.
--If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives... we'd be racist.-Whites organization is to advance their cause IS america.
--If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...you know we'd be racist. Only the most privileged were allowed to go to college, i.e. whites.
--In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights...you would call us racist.-White people did march, they were called KKK rallys.
--Did you know that some high school students decided to make a club for only the white students because the other ethnicities had them. they all got sent to court for being racist but the african-american, Latino, and Asia clubs were not even questioned.-Ever read a book on the history of education in this country? In the past, only white kids were allowed to be in clubs in schools that weren't segregated. Georgia still has white and Black proms.
--You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.- Only white people in this country have enslaved, murdered and tortured others for the sake of not being white.

I am white.
and
i am proud.
But, you call me a racist. -Nothing wrong with being proud of your whiteness, everyone should be proud of their heritage, but you must understand how white pride and a horrible history of its past go hand in hand and how it scares people who aren't white.

Why is it that only whites can be racists? Only ignorant people say that. Racists come in all colors.

Just a side question, but do any of you feel you are racist to some extent?? Honestly, and I know I'll probably hear it about this, but to a certain extent, Yes, I have to say that I am. I know it sounds horrible, but, I'd rather be honest than to try to hide it. Now don't go thinking, ah, racist, bigot, whatever. I suppose it's because of what we went through as kids, and I know some of the older members in here will agree, it was different for us and in some ways it still is. I know others here are from Texas and I don't know what it's like for them, but here where I live, you get treated like you're a second rate citizen. They don't hide calling you a wetback or borderjumper or effin' mexican. They assume you don't speak English; to them you are ignorant. I suppose over the years the hatred and racism in me just grew to what it is today. Don't think, geez she's racist towards everyone in general(I'm not), but believe me I'm not about to stand around and let someone throw me down thinking they are better. My parents always told us don't you ever let someone act like they're better than you or treat you like you're their slave you get your education and show them you know it and can do it and do it better! I know some of you have seen pics of some of my family and they look hispanic but if you get certain pictures of me you can tell I am part Native American and out here the oppression we face is that much worse. Oh and just so you don't get the wrong idea, yes, I do have very close friends from different ethnic background and nationalities and yes I do care for them very much.

Well...

while i can say i have been heavily discriminated against in my life, i can't really ever point my finger at the "white" man....

its always been everything but. mi propia gente, blacks, and especially asians are pretty "racist" when it comes to us (as has been made apparent to myself).

the only thing i'd have to say is to have an open mind about EVERYONE. Don't lump everyone into a pile. Be open to the fact that even your own people can be resentful towards you, as well as that not ALL white folk are out to get us.

I wouldn't say racist per se, rather, "guarded" if you know what I mean. I was raised to treat people as they treated me, but as one grows in life we have experiences that make us judge others in a certain light whether the way we perceive something to be is right or wrong. At least thats my opinion. My basic rule in life is, treat me how you want me to treat you. I've had good and bad experiences with people from all walks of life.

[font=Comic Sans MS] Oh, I remember reading this on soychicano,

I strongly agree with this. Even though I am chicano I believe that a white man has the same right to represent his heritage and NOT be called a racist. Black people so easily call out the race card in any situation that involves a black and white guy, and it's ridiculous to see that just because a white man's ancestors did wrong in the past, the future whites of american have to pay for it and be called "cracker", "honkey" and other racial names. I hate the fact that when a black guy calls a white a "cracker" or "honkey" it's perfectly okay, and not a big deal, but when a white calls a black person a "nigger" it's automatically taken as racism and blown out of proportion. There is no racial slur Greater than another and black people, mexicans, asians, and whites need to understand. If you treat a person a certain way, expect to be treated the same. There is brownpride, black pride, and white pride. None of them should be racist against any other race, we all take pride in our heritage and should express it in our own ways.

I am with Oldies Rule Forever1 & ur1nonly, There are people of all races who are cool open minded people, who will love and accept you regardless of your race. And there are also jerks who will hate you for no reason whatsoever, other than the color of your skin. Heck, I remember one time, about 17 years ago, I was working as a construction lead man. The owner hired me because the other foreman did not like Mexicans. Even if they were here legally. So he was put in charge of Chicanos, Whites and African-Americans. While I had 35 immigrants from Mexico under me.Well one day one of the guys under me, who had become a legal resident not long before, shocked the hell out of me! Some new guys were hired, and the owner was bringing them over to me. When all of a sudden, I heard my worker say in a loud voice, " hay vienen los mojados." So even Raza can be racist, to their own people! But at the same time I have seen racism and discrimination done against Hispanics here in the land of the free and the home of the brave, and it is very hard to take. Considering that racism is born out of cowardice and ignorance!

I think like Chicano said, everyone is entitled to being proud of their culture and where they come from. I am originally from Idaho, grew up with nothing but 3,4,and 5th generation chicanos, pretty well seperated from our own culture, because most of our parents didnt even speak spanish at home. When I was 15 my dad moved us back to san antonio and it was a culture shock for me, cause I didnt know chicanos ate at taquerias, most kids my age really liked menudo, it wasnt just for adults , listened to tejano music, and spoke spanglish. I had to adjust and i grew more aware of where I came from, and started being able to appreciate and have pride in who I am. NOW, I live in northeast texas where the latino/chicano population is slowly growing. There are still lots of prejudiced people and very very racist hate crimes in this area, and its another shock, because I didnt know life was like this just 7 hrs away from san antonio. So I do understand the whole 'everyone is entitled to their cultural pride' but I also sadly have to say, the same way I get stereotyped here in this new place, where people wont even pay attention to me unless they know for sure that I speak english, I am starting to be a little more prejudiced towards things that I hear, people who offend me, I tend to take it more personally than I used to. Back in S.A some remarks didnt sound racist to me, they sounded like a joke. And here, everything is about race. you cant joke like that at all, because there is always someone who is being offensive, or is getting offended. :jumm:
