Illegal Immigrants The Scape Goats!

Postby fsolis on Thu, Jan 24 2008, 4:00 PM

 My beloved Raza, they gave us a project in college to do, it was about the debate over whether illegal immigrants, were actually stealing American workers jobs. I did a lot of research, and guess what? The argument that they are stealing jobs from Americans "es puro Pedo, with a capitol P!" Its just a right wing myth, being used to make illegal immigrants the fall guys (scapegoats) for the country's ills! It seems when things are not going good,it is always smart to blame someone else, to divert attention from the real reasons behind our country's problems.

This is a great topic. However, we all know exactly what the truth is. We know illegal immigrants are not taking the jobs of americans, if anything they are doing the jobs that americanos beleive, they are too good for. I have always thought that it is bull shit how Immigrants are treated in this country, in all honesty I beleive americanos should be so thankfull that these people are so desperate to make a better life for themselves that they are willing to work the hardest for the least ammount of money. It is thanks to these Illegal immigrants that this country has been able to prosper and that we can enjoy inexpensive goods and services.
The truth is that americanos need illegals here to do the work. The problem is that Illegal Immigrants got smart, they started staying and raising their familys here, they observed that an education was important so now chicanos are getting degrees and getting better jobs, and that is what bothers your typical white american. The fact that they have to compete with us brown folks. Funny, chicanos are americans too, we are legally here, I guess white folks see brown and they assume that we must be illegal immigrants. Just goes to show that racism lives on..

My mom works for a large hotel chain, and she knows of a number of workers who are working there with fraudulent papers.
I'm not against this extra competition, but it seems pretty clear to me that an increase of labor in the job market (legal and illegal) depresses wages and would create higher unemployment.

 Observer, I fail to see how several workers working for a Hotel chain, can effect "The National Economy!" What has really affected and disenfranchised American workers, and will continue to do so is two things. #1 The relocation of American business's to cheaper foreign labor markets, and its resulting outsourcing of jobs. When was the last time you bought a product made in the U.S.A? Clothing for example, Do you even look for "the made in America Label, anymore?" Here is an article from 2004 where they interviewed Lou Dobbs, a very staunch conservative. #2 Then something hardly no one speaks about, but is growing and will be affecting the job market for American educated workers in the future. On this end is the increase in the bringing in, of foreign high tech-educated talent into the United States, by American Corporations. Every year about 85,000 or more, foreign workers enter the U.S. to work legally, and the cap is open ended to include many more of these high tech workers. I guess you might say corporate greed is the #1 reason American workers have lost jobs, and may lose even more in the future!

Inject several million more--then there would otherwise be--workers into any job-market and you'll surely see that it affects wages. It's basic economics.

And I disagree that corporate greed is to blame for the "loss" of jobs. It's merely a case of businesses seeking more efficient ways of producing goods and services. If worker 'A' is willing to make widgets for less than worker 'B' why shouldn't a company hire worker 'A' over worker 'B'? It's not so much the "fault" of corporations as it is simply a function of markets and people to greatly tend choose that which is more cost effective.

 Observer, you can agree to disagree all you want. Jump Hoops, holler,do a hip hop dance if you want. But it will never change the fact that the "illegal immigrants," in the U.S.A. are being used as scapegoats, by Americas right wing whiners, and certain politicians. But it's also actually, a moot point now. Because the 11.3 million illegal immigrants now here, are here to stay. They will probably be offered some kind of amnesty, after the election. The Government, & Business sector want the immigrants here! The country's business's need, and demand cheap labor, to fill low wage jobs!

 No Observer its you who does not no what he is rambling about! You talk a big talk, but you fail to back up your posts with documented facts! Just like your half truth post on Karl Marx, you know very well that the communist system has never, ever, worked, If it did then every country in the world would be embracing it, instead of running away from it! A communist system only serves its leaders needs, and thats it, not the people!

Going forward lol. fsolis is just saying among other things, that Politicions or public leaders are using illegal immigration as a probe to lure in voters and populiarty among the traditonal "all-American" group. Not, only that, even conservative media. Lets be real. Its a large group of people.

and the truth is, and whether you disagree or not (depending on your economic belifs) The labour force needs immigrants to do the jobs that the typical "americans" prefer not to do. The michigan government just reicently tried luring in'spanish' workers with the spanish lanuage
The crackdown on illegal immigration has dried up farm labor so much that crops were left rotting in the fields last year. Even Michigan, which has the nation's highest unemployment rate, is reaching out to migrant farmworkers from Texas and, soon, Florida. Its slogan is "Venga a Michigan"--Spanish for "Come to Michigan
This is an interesting arictle. http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:-8 ... cd=9&gl=us
