I generally only like to "talk shit" or argue religion when people use religion to levy moral judgment on others. For me, I'm an Atheist, but I'm not really out to mock or change a believers mind.

However, that's a plus that I can see coming out of tragedy in Iraq. I hope that Atheism starts to take root in the Middle East, and hopefully we'll see Islamic fanaticism wane just as Christianity fanaticism has in the West.

[font=Comic Sans MS] I really don't know what to believe nowadays. Science just seems to be more believable than an "almighty being" creating everything, but then again I WANT to believe. It's better to believe in something that isn't there then to be sorry when you're dead and spending eternity in hell. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I do like debating about this subject towards science being MORE clear than religion.

As for the whole middle eastern holy war, I doubt it will ever end, just happy none of this bullsht is taking place here in the U.S

Well, here's what Christopher Hitchens has to say about that. He calls himself an antitheist--unlike some atheists, he would rather that there not be a omniscient being who oversees all that people do (a God). Anyway, here are his thoughts:

"You seem to have guessed, from some remarks I have already made in passing, that I am not a religious believer. In order to be absolutely honest, I should not leave you with the impression that I am part of the generalized agnosticism of our culture. I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. Reviewing the false claims of religion I do not wish, as some sentimental agnostics affect to wish, that they were true. I do not envy believers their faith. I am relieved to think that the whole story is a sinister fairy tale; life would be miserable if what the faithful affirmed was actually the case.

Why do I say that? Well, there may be people who wish to live their lives under a cradle-to-grave divine supervision; a permanent surveillance and [around the clock] monitoring [a celestial North Korea]. But I cannot [personally] imagine anything more horrible or grotesque. It would be worse, in a way, if the supervision was benign..."

BTW, I don't think it's even a debate. Science is (IMO) obviously more clear than religion. You have to take religion on faith, science demands and requires proof.

I dont know. i feel like its blasphemous if I even THINK science. I can find answers in science, but then doesnt the bible say something about not questioning the way things are? I was raised very very religious, so I do believe in God and am God fearing. And as of right now, dont know if I lean more in either direction.

 I don't really believe in religion, because all religion was invented by man, but I do believe in God, and the Bible very strongly. I had a very hard upbringing, at my birth it was said, that many witch lights (witches), were always seen around the house where I was a baby. I was also abandoned by my father and mother as a child, and then raised by my grandparents as best they could. I spent my entire childhood since 10 years of age, running the cold hard city streets, and have seen everything there is to see, and learn about the good and bad sides of life. During that time and now, I have been so close to death several times, that I could sense it, and its not a good feeling! So for me and all my loved ones, "JESUS IS LORD!" I am not and never will be a "Holy Roller," but I am a very strong believer in God. I also studied the occult for many years, since I was always attracted to the darkness as a teenager, and I know that the Serpent,666,HELL,( The Angel of The Bottomless Pit) is very real! But I will never impose my beliefs on anyone. When the hard times come and death and disaster come calling. It will be up to each individual to embrace that which he mosts believes and trusts in, God or Science. As for me and those I love,we shall trust upon the Lord Almighty! :rosa:

Religion uses circular logic to "prove" everything...

I like science for the fact that its empirical, and can always be disproved. (and its welcomed)
