I would write about something I feel strongly about, for example: "How illegal immigrants help the country by doing work, that no one else wants to do." In my posts there is a lot of information from very credible sources so as to defend this position and persuade your audience, just look up all my posts on the subject. The research has already been done!#2 Follow the guidelines given by your professor for you speech to the letter. #3 Time your speech at home, while you practice in front of a mirror, make sure it is the correct time length. #4 Practice looking at your audience in the room, look to your left at someone, then look to your right at someone, then center of room at someone, then vary looking up at the three different positions given, throughout the speech.#4 Do not use the "ugh," word, that is the most horrible sound in the world!#5 See if its alright to use a "light highlighter," to highlight the different paragraphs, for example I like to use red, white and blue to highlight the first line of each paragraph so that way I always know where to look, and I repeat the color sequence throughout my speech. #6 practice, practice, practice until perfect! I was very fortunate to have had the privilege of having studied under one of the finest small college, speech professors in south Texas. Her students could even out perform some of the students from the larger universities in the south Texas area, to this day her students are doing extremely well!LOL!
If all else fails, then go rent the movie "Cats and Dogs," and learn from my linguistics mentor "Tinkles the cat," about how to give a speech. But just don't try to remember the movie while you are giving your speech, because you may break out laughing, and have the whole class scratching their heads! Those Cats kick butt!
