Selena was such a powerhouse of a woman, that it is doubtful she ever will be forgotten, ever. Here in Texas she was leaving all the male artists in the dust. When her first English Cd came out, which was not even finished because of her death, she was kicking "all the world class big time female pop singers butts," As a matter of fact, not long after she died, the bottom fell out of the Tejano music scene, and it has never recovered. When she was alive they used to hold the Tejano music awards at the Alamodome, but now they are held in much smaller venues. As a Chicana woman, she was "a perfect 10," she would speak to and be nice to everyone. The young girls here in Texas idolized her, not just because she was a great artist, but also because she was a wonderful wife, daughter, and an incredible individual. All this accomplished when her star was "barely beginning to rise." No when Selena was taken away from us here in Texas,we lost much more that just an entertainer, and female business entrepreneur. We lost a great Mexican-American woman who was not scared to stand up on her own two feet. You see, she was about to lift up "the new standard," for courageous Mexican-American women everywhere. She signified, "No more having to ask a man if it was was alright for a Chicana to aspire to, and achieve success,or greatness. No,I don't think she will ever be forgotten by La Raza here in Texas, ever! :rosa: :rosa: :rosa:

Love love love Selena!!!!
Right brwn_eyes, Most people only think of Selena as an entertainer, but in reality she was much more than that. Selena exemplified the heart and soul of La Raza, along with the magnificence, beauty, and courage of our women. She was such a powerhouse, that had she lived, I have no doubt that she would have shaken up La Raza for the better. Because she was such a mover n shaker, that she would have inspired untold millions of Chicanos and Chicanas everywhere, to reach for the stars! :rosa:
