On Saturday, March 29, 2008, Earth Hour invites people around the world to turn off their lights for one hour – from 8:00pm to 9:00pm in their local time zone. On this day, cities around the world, including Copenhagen, Chicago, Melbourne, Dubai, and Tel Aviv, will hold events to acknowledge their commitment to energy conservation.

Last year's 60-muinute power cut in Sydney showed that power consumption fell by 10 per cent. The carbon emissions saved owing to the brief shut down amounted to the same as taking 48,000 cars off the road for an entire year.

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” –Emerson

NICE THOUGHT, BUT I DON'T SEE EVEN THE PEOPLE THAT PARTICIPATE, SHUTTING DOWN "ALL" THEIR SHIT THAT RUNS ON POWER. THAT WOULD MEAN THAT THEY STAY BORED FOR A WHOLE HOUR. AND I DON'T SEE TOO MANY IN AMERICA BEING ABLE TO HANDLE THAT ONE BIT.

I didn't participate. I'm always conserving energy, but only becuase I want my eletric bill to be a small as possible. I use fluorescent bulbs... thier light is funky at first but you get used to it. and you wouldn't bealive the money you can save. :paz:
