Please allow me to tell you all a little thing or two or three on the subject of bashing our own gentes.
I have written many pieces of my thoughts and more often than not have even entered them into these so-called cyberspaces.
I write based upon my personal experiences, and I write so as to share, and hopefully to raise an awareness amongst the U.S.
born and bred Mexic@s/Hispanics/Latin@s/Chican@s, and or any of the "other" labels that one might want to identify with and through.
Usually I aspire to write about the way Mexicanos/Indocumentados(underdocumenteds) are being treated at the level of the government here on American turfs.
These our peoples are treated severe and inhumanely, and not surprisingly all these forms are becoming to the average Americano becoming a norm a way of life, and a way to live.
Personally again I, feel it is a shamefull time that we are being forced to live with, and through. Shamefull because we are being force-fed some pretty crazy lies about our own gentes. Gentes del otro lado.
Lies. That look great on paper and they look even better on the t.v.-oh please..that's what I say.
We seem to be getting used to the lies too. And here my friend is where the linear way of thinking becomes my fight. Everyday of my young and now not too young life I have fought to preserve the foundation of FaMilIa!
- C'mon Americans for the most part if you have familia en el otro lado or even deep in the Selva Lacandona or up by Macchu Picchu-you definately have heard(storytelling) or conscientiously know what it is to have, and to uphold STRONG family ties.
I say "we" because for example, and as Mexican Peoples decendants, it might be fair to identify ourselves as relatives even to peoples that we might not consider immmediate"blood" ties, but rather only through historically and geographically connectected.
And so perhaps we understood and have continued to understand that we are related to the peoples of Mexico, and even beyond into Centro and deep Sur Americas. Even Todito y por alli en Latino America.
So you are probably wondering what might the point be here?
The point is that OBVIOUSLY we have been assimilated into the LINEAR mind modes. For the most part we might be under the impression that the people from the other side are just that "Los Del Otro Lado."
Therefore we normally wouldn't give a rats ass if the ones form the other side perished in our United States desert zones in an attempt to cross into and around United States boundries-right?
Or we could care less that the women from Juarez, Mexico get abducted and murdered(some as we read) and maybe even buried alive within a few feet from the U.S./Mexican border.
And we could care less if that that very woman that went out at the hand of her murderer, had just assembled 1,500 laptops or television sets within her 12 to 15 hour a day work shift at the U.S. owned factory...maquiladora.
Keep in mind that although the factories are in Mexico, the products assembled there are EXPORTED to ..yep you guessed it-USA!
We are Americans why should we concern ourselves with the ones from the other side?
All we need to know is that we can go over there(Mexico) and sun-bathe in Cancun-Yay!
We are not them and they are definately not us! Right? Wrong.
Now, this is only my experience/observations as a human/indigenous-woman/grandmother that was born and raised along the U.S.-Mexico border.
I have seen the desecration of human dignity at the level of our governments-bothe U.S. and Mexico.
I am not a very liked person. I have been told to shut up. I have been treated like a possible prostitute, so as to take the bait and placate. I have been threatened for my involvements in organising the barrios peoples the peoples of the borders and finally my own offspring have been threatened.
Do I give up? No. Never. Why? Because I know that on the other side lies my historical beginings,my old peoples running grounds.
The Sierra Tarauhmara. The Costa De Oaxaca. The heart of the Mexica Tenochtitlan! How can anyone govern my heart? How can anyone tell me I must forget my ancestry?
Hell no! I will never assimilate! For what? For the loss of my soul? For the complacency engines to swallow me up and make me dissappear?
Nunca Jamas.
Why should we give a rat's ass about some Mexican girl that isn't even my relative?! Bingo! Linear thinking run rampant.
- Linear thinking raping us from the very essences of our thought processes.
The next time you say pinchi mojado or F****** Illegals..go back to the kitchen and take a long hard look at that pot of beans.
Or better yet if you have a granma that wears trensitas everyday and still makes torillas or popusas...give her un besito and un abrazo and thank her or granpa for you heritage.
