Milk saved the day!

Postby iPedro on Sun, Apr 06 2008, 4:31 PM

The other day, I was at my Parents and my Pops had made some barbacoa dish and I didn't know it, but he had put in some Serrano chile? and I love hot foods, especially chile if it's diced in with other things like with pica de gallo, for example. but cheeses cripes, this Chile didn't burn my mouth, it went strait down and I started to really feel it around my chest area and my stomach kinda. I must of taken a seed that sht was so hot, I didn't think about water, I wanted some milk! and it helped - it felt like putting a fire out. :?

That is all.

Oh my gosh, that's exactly why I don't eat chile all that often. I can eat some you know nomas asi, pero later in the day oh I feel so sick to the point that it feels like a bad case of indigestion/heartburn-this sometimes lasts for days! That's why I rarely eat any chile whatsoever. :no.

What tripped me out, is that I was feeling it as the food was going down. I never had that happen before. I've burned the bajeezus out of my mouth but not my upper stomach, lol.

Oh man, I love chile as much as you do. Water doesn't help your mouth/stomach cool down.... I heard salt helps when your tounge is burning.

I remember my dad brought some small chiles from outside. He was growing them, but they were really small...like berely growing and he gave me one, and me being the idiot that I was...I ate it without any other food just by itself, and literally tears came out of my eyes because it had burned so much.

My pops just laughed at the whole scene I was making, haha..

haha. that just reminded of back in the day. an old co worker who became my drinking buddy overnight had a family that owned a little Mexican restaurant in town - his Mom did all the cooking. one night we went over to his Mom's house and we were all chillen at the backyard. you could smell the restaurants food from inside the house. one of his brothers came out the house with a tortilla warped up telling me to take a bite! I kept saying no, but the more I did, the more I made myself sound rude and didn't want to disrespect his Mamas cooking :? mathafaka, it was a tortilla full of chile... I don't think I tasted anything else. I wanted to spit it out so bad it was that hot. But I was cool about it. "good huh" he said... I just shook my head que si.

Hey you know what, I read somewhere that Milk was actually bad for those who get heartburn. cause Sometimes people drink milk to relieve indigestion? y dicen que milk only makes it worse. I never had tha problem though. but I guess for some people les hace daño.
But hey, Chocolate milk works too!
