I didnt even watch it, it was sold out both days i was able to go.. ..so ill try this week, but ive been hearing its not all that scary, but ill be the judge of that when i watch it.....

Looks like a good movie, did anyone go see it?

I saw it, it was pretty good at first but it just pretty much didn't go anywhere after halfway through the movie.

Spoilers:

There were too many horror movie cliches, the type of dumb stuff that you'd think you wouldn't see in movies after Scream.

The guy leaves the girl alone in the middle of nowhere. He goes and investigates outside when he has the shotty, leaving her in the house to 'hide' when it's been confirmed the people have access to the house. The strangers appear and dissapear for no reason. One scene shows the girl crawling, with a masked girl following her. The camera looks away and then she's gone. WTF?

Its just a bunch of noise making, then they tie them up and just stab them. No real reason, just for kicks. There's no story, no reason to watch this film except for a few creepy scenes towards the beginning. This is probably the first time I find myself thinking "What the hell am I watching, people get hunted and then tortured to death? How sick is that?" I know you see people die in other movies but because there's no real story element in The Strangers, that's basically all you get.

You're welcome. I forgot the mention the whole thing regarding "Based on True Events" BS, according to wikipedia the director based this on a childhood event. He stayed at a remote house for vacation once. Months later he heard it had gotten broken into. Bam, there's your story. It's also influenced by one of the Manson deaths, very loosely. I guess anyone can say their movie is based on real events. The Incredible Hulk, based on true events:

"I was at the gym once, and I saw this really buff dude. He dropped a weight on his foot and got really angry so he started throwing stuff around. Thus, The Hulk was born"
