Alright, the 4th of July is upon us people!! I know, many of us mainly celebrate those holidays we associate with our family history, our heritage, but here where I'm from we also take great PRIDE and celebrate those holidays that remind us of how far we have come, and what we have achieved, not just us, but our parents and grandparents. We celebrate those things that make our country great. I know some will disagree and while many of us don't agree with the current course of our country (I for one), I do believe God has Blessed us with so much: food to eat, a place to live, family, friends, the ability to speak our mind, to practice our chosen religion, and not one that has been forced upon us.
We gather with family and friends every year and usually have a huge get together-it is an all day affair (cooking, drinking, having fun with the kids, enjoying each other's company), and later that night we gather together and watch the fireworks display. Most everyone does, right?! So let's hear it, what do you like to make? Do you try to add a twist every year? Do you make something special. I know we have some GREAT cooks here @ Juarol, so come on share a little something with the rest of us.
And have a
HAPPY 4th of
JULY!!!
This is my treat that I'm sharing, it is called a
Red, White & Blue Ice Cream Float. It's simple easy and especially nice if it's hot where you're at. Enjoy!
1/2 gallon Vanilla Ice Cream
1 package Frozen Blueberries
6 cans (12 oz.) Big Red soda (or something with a similar taste)
1 can Whip Cream
1 cup Pecan Pieces
1 jar (4 oz.) Cherries with stems
You will need 6 tall (16-ounce) glasses or mugs-place them in the freezer for 30 minutes before using them. I rinse them in water and freeze them-it gives them a nice frosty effect and helps keep the ice cream chilled.
Layer 1 large scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream, 2 Tablespoons frozen blueberries, 1 more scoop of ice cream and 2 Tablespoons blueberries.
SLOWLY pour COLD Big Red Soda over the ice cream and blueberries.
Top each float with whipped cream and one Tablespoon pecan pieces and a cherry.
What's your recipe?!
